Who you are talking to
Zach von der Linden
Mortgage broker and Branch Manager, West Capital Lending. Most of his career has been spent explaining the same handful of decisions to people who deserved a straight answer.
Zach runs a solo broker practice. That means the person who answers your first question is the person who structures the loan and the person you can call when something is confusing. He works with homeowners in California, Utah, Oregon, and Arizona.
As a broker, Zach works with more than one wholesale lender and program, including the home equity line this site is built around and conventional, government, bank statement and investment-property options, rather than selling one lender’s product. The point of that is simple: you hear about the option that fits, or you hear that none of them do and you should wait. Which products are available for a given home and state is confirmed case by case.
A note from Zach

Quick note, in Zach’s words
A few things I like clients to know before we ever talk. I have been doing this for over 10 years and counting. I have worked at banks. I have worked at direct lenders as an employee. Now I am an independent broker, and I do not get paid differently based on the type of loan product we put in front of you.
I am focused on figuring out what is best for you: where you are in your situation, where you are in your life, and what the best possible move forward is. I look at every person and their situation as if I were in their shoes, or as if they were family. That has built a business of repeat clients and referrals, more than I can count, and I look forward to adding you to that family as well.

Check your options now
Check your qualifying rates and terms online. See your options, then decide whether to continue.
See my HELOC optionsNo impact on your credit score for the initial check. It is a soft credit pull.
- Opens West Capital Lending’s HELOC portal in a new tab. Zach is a broker; the lender runs the check.
- It asks for your property address, how the home is owned, and whether you live in it first, then checks your qualifying rates and terms.
- A hard credit inquiry happens only if you choose to continue to a full application.
- Funding in as few as five business days for eligible loans, subject to verification and closing requirements.
Rates as low as prime may be available for qualifying borrowers in eligible programs. Your rate and costs depend on your credit, combined loan-to-value, selected loan and program terms, and applicable fees. Combined loan-to-value means your first mortgage plus the new loan, as a share of what your home is worth.
About the link and the timing
The link carries Zach’s referral code so West Capital Lending knows you came through him. It carries nothing about you. Preliminary options are subject to verification and final approval.
Assumes remote online notarization; county recording rules, in-person closings, waiting periods, and loans of $400,000 or more can take longer. Not a three-day or same-day promise.

How he approaches a file
The first conversation is about what the money is for, when you need it, and what you already owe. Not documents, not a credit pull. A rough picture is enough to know whether a loan makes sense and which kind.
From there the process is the same one every page on this site follows: gross loan, fees off the top, what gets paid at closing, cash in hand, and the payment before and after. If a loan does not improve your situation, the answer is no, said plainly.
- Easy to reach and clear about the process, according to his clients’ reviews.
- Every example on this site sizes the loan to the net you need, not the gross that looks impressive.
- Every page says which option fits and when another route fits better.
